Cheetah Apmeb Universal Projector Adjustable (Accessory Or Part Or Supply) 2134

Review for universal projector ceiling mount

Price was $24.69. Try as i may, there is not way to get this product to tighten down enough to keep the projector from wobbling. So you will spend some time continually trying to position the projector until it is just right. Just don't ever touch it again, because the slightest touch will bump it out of alignment. An inferior design at best. I got it to work, but i would not purchase it again. Would not recommend. . Edit: i have to say that this company does have good customer service. After seeing my review they did work with me to adjust for the faulty product. Updating from 2 star to 4 star rating.

Preamble : cheetah apmeb universal

While the product arrived on time, with everything neatly packaged. I was eager to install and be on my way to enjoying movies. My epson 2030 projector was not as universal as i'd hoped. I had to remove the mounting brackets and install a few shorter ones, which is perfectly fine. The mounting base install was very straight forward and easy, even routing my power and hdmi cable through the mount made for a clean install. The problem came when everything was mounted the extension pole could use an extra bolt in the kit. With the setup there is a major rocking motion of around a 1/4" whenever it's touched, someone runs up our exterior spiral staurs or high winds. This causes the projector to move off center. If an extra bokt was included i could install it and that would take care of the rocking issue. Other than that for a under $30 projector mount, this is very high quality, instructions are great and i give this company and their product 5 stars. Best universal projector ceiling mount | Cheetah Mounts-Accessory Or Part Or Supply Review ( Sep 2019 ) Supplementary Cheetah Mounts APMEB Universal Projector Ceiling Mount Includes a 27" Adjustable Extension Pole and a Twisted Veins 15' HDMI Cable Universal design with four adjustable arms: the arms are fully adjustable to fit virtually any projector. by default, the mount comes with longer arms pre attached. however, there are smaller arms also included for smaller mounting patterns. for compact projectors and projectors with extremely small mounting patterns, the arms can be detached and inverted inwards. the arms are also removable for projectors that have less than 4 mounting points.. Vaulted ceiling plate: the apmeb is designed so it may be used with vaulted ceilings. 7" low profile and optional adjustable extension pole: the apmeb is ideal for low profile mounting as well as setups that require an extension pole. the profile is 7" without the extension. with the extension, the profile has an adjustable range of 18. 75-27".. Safety cable: attach the projector to the mount with the metal tether for added security during installation. the cable may also be used as an extra element of security once the projector is mounted.. Cable management: the center of the ceiling plate is stamped out to allow cables to pass through for a clean and sleek cable management system. .

Cheetah mounts apmeb universal projector ceiling mount includes a 27 adjustable extension pole and a twisted veins 15' hdmi cable Review (apmeb)

I purchased this mount for my acer h5380bd projector. I am very happy with it. The mount initially is set up to be attached to the projector at 4 locations, but my projector had 3, so i took off 2 of the arms and there was an open screw between them to make 3 evenly spaced arms. My projector's intended mounting holes were too close together, so i ended up removing the little adjustable legs and using those holes instead. There is a little piece of plastic that looks like a contact lens that goes in the ball joint - it's important to put it in there so the projector stays locked in one place. I ended up just using the mounting plate and not the included extension arms, but it's nice to have that as an option. . As for spn performance's customer service, they are amazing! my initial order was missing the hardware - so all the little screws and washers. I sent them an email and the next day got a call from a very nice representative (emily) saying that they were sending me an entire replacement unit, free of charge, and shipping it 2nd day. In addition to that, they told me i could keep the one i got for replacement parts! it is so nice to work with a company that puts customer satisfaction first and foremost. So since i had extra parts, i tried mounting my projector both with and without the extension arm which can be seen in the pictures - it was nice to be able to try both ways. . The included hdmi cable is nice and long and is a nice bonus as well. Highly recommended product at a great price. -. Reed

PROS
  • Easy to install but the ball joint slips even though i've tightened the clamps as hard as possible. The down tube when using the extender is too large for the mounting adapter, leaving a gap and alot of play, this causes problems when aligning to the wall as when the projector is set to rest it will go further back than where you tightened it. . This was used for an optoma gt 1080 which ends up being off center on the universal bracket. Beware if you do not account for this offset in your measurements (as i didnt) you will have no side to side or back to front adjustment. Because of this you will need to use excessive image adjustment or plan to measure within 1/16th inch of square to your screen when mounting. . Update 12/05/2016 - seller contacted me by email and was extremely helpful. Sent a new improved unit and also gave suggestions for lining the lens up to the mounting base which worked! (you can flip over the arms that mount to the projector for short spaced holes if needed). Improved design stability - looks like they enlarged the ball portion of the joint and it works much better. Very stiff and has not moved like the first version. I would rate this 5 stars but the gaps between the extension arm and mount tube make adjustment extremely difficult. Other than that everything is high quality and works very well on the new "larger ball" version. Amazing customer service!
  • Update:. I got in contact with the seller and explained my issues to them. They were kind enough to send me a replacement product to see if maybe i was just simply given a defective one and that was exactly it. The new one worked great and held my projector in place with a solid fit. Worked very nicely along with the hdmi cable it came with. I am changing my review to 5-stars as this new one works wonderfully and i am now very happy with this product! . . It held and fit my epson 83+ projector nicely but it was a pain to get it to hold in the exact position i wanted it. The hdmi cable it came with also didn't work very well and would constantly cut out. It works for now but when it comes time to get a new one down the road, i may end up getting a different one.
  • Cheetah Articulating Extension Displays
CONS
  • I would rate it a "3". It is a decent product requiring some redesigns. . Pros:. Seems to be truly universal with tons of mounting options with screws included. Good baked on finish, should hold up to whatever you need. . Cons:. The mount is hard to micro adjust, and there is something loose on a non-adjustable metal plate that you have to account for when readjusting the screen. For example, once you have it aligned and try to tighten down the screws, a metal plate where the pole connects isn't completely secure and it sags down, so you have to overcompensate by moving the position even higher so it sags into place where you want it. It also doesn't hold it's position over time, even using pliers on the screws and tighteners, it still requires readjustment about once every 1-2 months.
  • Pro: came with a lot of great parts so it was easy to put together. . Con (edit: see below, this was mitigated by support): unfortunately, it is nearly useless with my projector because the ball and socket joint in the middle cannot be made tight enough to be stable. It requires constant adjustment and tightening to last a couple days at best before needing adjustment again. I understand the ball and socket joint makes it easier to get the alignment just right, but i would rather spend twice as long setting up the mount than have to do maintenance on it constantly. . Edit: cheetah support contacted me quickly and helped me get the mount working better. Its still somewhat of a pain to set up, requiring two people to get it right, but it stays still now! upgraded my review from 2 to 3 stars. I recommend the company wholeheartedly and this product now meets my needs.
  • If your projector only has a three-point mounting system (like the optoma hd142x that is online store's most popular model at the time of this writing), you're really going to have a hard time getting this mount to work properly. I had to remove one arm from the mount and turn one of the arm ends around backwards to make everything fit, and even then it was an ordeal. If you have a projector with a 3-point mount, i would buy something made for it specifically and not this universal mount.

universal projector ceiling mount Cheetah Mounts APMEB Universal Projector Ceiling Mount Includes a 27" Adjustable Extension Pole and a Twisted Veins 15' HDMI Cable (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

Good mount, could be better. When i saw 6-27 inches i was expecting a little more range. You can do 6" but the next step up will take you all the way to 16". I bought this for my epson 2040 projector which required a little fiddling. The 2040 only has 3 holes and the third is very close, so close that i had to modify the third arm to get it to match. I got it up on the ceiling though and it does what is described. . * critical * do not follow the instructions completely unless you want extra holes in your wall/ceiling. The pre-drilled holes call for a 6mm bit but then go on to say "if metric is not available a 3/8in bit will work". The included lag bolts arent even 3/8in so you will end up with a hole larger than the bolt. I used a 15/64 which is only slightly smaller than the 6mm. . Edit: here is how i have the arms configured. The front left arm is removed which allows the back right arm to slide in further. The front left hole then uses the back left arm to mount. . Edit 2: added back terribly drawn picture to give a top down view of the arms. . -. Update: i was contacted by cheetah after leaving my review asking if they could assist with anything and to ask a few questions around my issues. They have forwarded the portion around the bit sizes to their manufacturer to get the information corrected. They were also curious as to how i got the arms to work for the epson 2040 and sounds like they may be making modifications to make it more universal. Overall, super impressed with the company reaching out.

Click to see NoticeCheetah Apmeb Universal Projector Adjustable (Accessory Or Part Or Supply)"12/10/16: update - i too was contacted by spn customer service in response to the negative review i published. I was told there was a new version of this mount and that there was a known issue with the current design when using heavier projectors. Jaden in customer service went above and beyond what i was expecting by sending me the updated version at no additional cost and then calling me back to confirm that i had received it and that it was working. I can tell you that the "ball and socket" on the revised version are much larger and hold the projector much more securely. Mount works great now. If you are ordering this, make sure you are getting the new version. Hats off to cheetah customer service. . I ordered this mount for my epson home cinema 3100. I decided to try the cheetah mount based on the number of reviews on online store. It mounted up just fine and the materials feel very heavy duty. Unfortunately, these are about the only positive things i can say about this mount. This has to be the most difficult mount to adjust that i have ever used. There is tremendous wobble in the extension tubes even after tightening to the point that the tubes feel like they are going to bend. Adjusting the horizontal, pitch and yaw positions are extremely difficult given the two thumb screws and the ball design. The projector moves after you tighten the screws. I am unable to fine tune this mount to get a level projected image. I hear mention of a new and much improved design yet i can't imagine the mount i received as being this "improved" version. I am very disappointed with this mount so far and will be replacing it with a more expensive unit."

(0) Question: Will this work with the fixeover gp100?

(1) Question: Has anyone tried this with an epson hc2000(powerlite)?

(2) Question: Will the mount attach to a 2x4 or is mounting bracket larger?

The mount works great, and does everything as advertised. The only downsides i can give is that it is unintuitive on putting it together even with directions, and it doesn't come with any spare parts.

Homegear 110 HD Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control

I must admit i was very skeptical about purchasing this screen given the price but i decided to give it a try. The screen went up without any issues and i was able to hide the cords behind my newly finished basement which eliminated the one problem i was worried about, the cosmetics of wires showing. Since the remote was not ir and works through walls it made mounting the wireless remote a perfect solution. The screen takes approx. 25 seconds to go up/down and it is quiet so it really looks operated well. The screen does have very minor fold lines that are actually going away with time and the rolling on the ends of the screen are gone entirely. I have no issues with the screen itself and my projected image looks as good as ever. In short if you are looking for a very reasonably priced screen that looks and works great this is the one.

Homegear 110 Hd Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control (Office Products) FAQ.

1 year update:. I dropped my review from 5 stars to 4 stars. I wanted to give it 3, but as far as i know it is still the cheapest and only affordable motorized screen on the market, and after all this time waves are minimal. My issue is with the build quality as follows. . I have retracted this screen maybe 10 times since i purchased it a year ago. Today, while closing, a loose wire connecting the motors (inside the housing) got all tangled up with the screen, choking up the mechanism and preventing it from functioning. The wire has now jammed and fallen out in the way of the screen, and is impossible to tuck back in without disassembling the housing and risking more damage. -. . Original review:. Great, cheap alternative to some of the other screens out there. Slight waves in the screen, but it's only noticeable on a blank white picture. The included wall-mount control buttons are a nice touch in case you ever lose the remote. . The housing is 10 feet long, so make sure your wall is wide enough to fit the entire thing. I didn't expect this and had windows in the way, so i ended up having to suspend it from the ceiling, dropping it a couple feet using 2' pipes and flanges from home depot. I'd definitely recommend this option if you have tall ceilings and don't want to crane your neck while viewing. -Notice from D. Angela, Rochdale

Great screen. I can tell it only costed $100. But for the money, it works very well. I am projecting with a benq ht2050. There are some ripples in the screen, and near the left and right edges it curves forward a bit. But it is hardly noticeable and i plan to use a heat gun to try to straighten it out a bit.

Homegear-110-hd-motorized-16:9-projector-screen-w/-remote-control-(office-products) set picture

- F. KellieThe screen came in secure package, no damages. The motor is surprisingly very silent. It takes 30secs for up or down. No issues at all. I use the screen daily , so has to close and open atleast twice day. So far no issues at all good. Screen quality is good, i don't have anything to compare. Remote works just fine. The only reason i gave 4 star is i see similar but 100 inch products for 60$ in ebay. So price could have been better. And also no screws comes with screen, we have to buy separate for hanging. Rest its a excellent screen.

I have no other experiences with projector screens at all. But i couldn't justify the significant increase in price of other screens. During the day, the picture looks quite washed out, but it looks wonderful and night. I couldn't be happier with the screen, especially considering it was a hundred dollars. Mine came with no dents. We have been using it daily nary a problem

Elite Screens Manual B, 100-INCH 16:9, Manual Pull Down Projector Screen 4K / 8K Ultra HDR 3D Ready Slow Retract Mechanism, 2-YEAR WARRANTY, M100H

If my previous 72" screen was like having the movie theater at my house, then this 120" is like having imax at my house! (relatively speaking of course). . Just stunning. Movies, games, & sports are just massive on this thing. I've always kept a 50" hdtv in the same room so i don't burn up all my lamp hours on my projector for just my 'casual' gaming and 'casual' sports watching. But with this new screen, it's getting much harder to do that. . Best screen for the money anywhere. The material and construction are quality. Don't let the price fool you. I would highly recommend for any home theater enthusiast looking to upgrade as i did. Yes, elite screens is a quality brand if you were wondering like i was. I can testify to that now. . I've had this for a month now. I just love the manual slow retract feature. This helps a lot because i have this hanging from a 9' high ceiling. It has retracted successfully each time for the past month, no hangups or getting stuck. And it will lock into place at any level you want it, not just preset positions. The feature works very well. The smell isn't that bad and is nothing funky or anything. It's just the factory smell of fresh vinyl. It doesn't fill the room. It goes away after a few minutes and only comes back after fully retracting and un-retracting again. Seriously, not really a big deal. It gets less and less with time. . Again, this was an upgrade to my current home theater setup and i had already sworn off going to local theaters with my old screen, except for 1 or 2 summer blockbusters. Now this has really kept me from the local cineplex for another thousand years!

Elite Screens Manual 100 Inch Projector (m100h) FAQ.

Giving this 4 stars because of shipability. Mine came damaged like someone had tried to bend it in half. Since it's so long, it's almost a guarantee it will get damaged or dented in some way. . Installation to my ceiling was simple. The hanging points were spot on for stud mounting. My ceiling is 24" spacing. Bought some long eye bolts, measured and screwed them in. Got 2 bolt closing links to secure it to the eye bolts, hung the projector, then leveled it by screwing in or out the bolt on one side. . The screen has some waves on the sides that get better over time leaving it out. They haven't quite disappeared but are less noticeable. The fresh vinyl smell is also strong at first but goes away after about a week of leaving it out. The auto retract is nice and takes a little less than 10 seconds to retract i think. -Notice from R. Hayward, Redcar and Cleveland

I've been a home theater enthusiast since the 90's. I've owned and built a handful of fixed frame screens and tweaked and nodded them over the years with d65 grey, screen goo, mississippi mud mix and a few other hobbyist screen treatments. Each of these projects had their pros and cons but compared to this very reasonably priced manual pull down i've got to say i like this screen best. I am pleasantly surprised it arrived in tip top shape and after several trials of the mechanics up and down shows no sign of any defects or warping. The image is incredibly uniform across this screen. I'd previously used a 100" fixed frame but swapped it to this pro fiberglass backed 100" manual so i can put it away and let my toddler watch cartoons on a regular tv in the same room. The really striking thing about this screen to me is the calibration to my previous diy d65 grey screen matches this screen exactly. The blacks have the detail and the whites and colors pop just right. I'm an experienced eye for cheaper screen technology and i can say without regret i will be keeping an eye on this company for future projects. Fit and finish and performance of this screen for the cost is right on the money. Great job guys.

Elite-screens-manual-100-inch-projector-(m100h) set picture

- H. SusanaVery happy with this 80" screen. Lovely and bright, it's fine in every way as far as my eyes can tell, but i'm not sure what i should be looking for! pulls down and retracts easily (i've read some people saying they have to pull it down really hard to get it to retract, but mine is super easy, just the amount of pull you'd expect, i'm not at all alarmed or worried about the ceiling caving in! ). My only complaint is that there isn't a ceiling mounting option, so i had to use hooks and hang it from the ceiling (with a 4 or 5cm gap between ceiling and screen). However i was very impressed with elite who answered that particular query very quickly for me. Apparently the larger screens do have ceiling mount options for what it's worth.

Update 2/17/18 : i m giving it 4 stars instead of the initial 2, this because some part of the wrinkles were lest noticeable after some days. . First review:. Well i bought this 84 inch screen around 2 weeks ago mainly to have family movie nights and of course watching the super bowl in something bigger than my 50 inch tv. . The quality you get from projecting onto this screen is good, but it has some issues. . The packaging came out good, no dents or nothing regarding the shipping, but after hanging this screen so it could vent the odor which for me is tolerable, i started inspecting the screen and found three things concerning me. . First was the bottom center part of the screen where it has some wrinkes, the second one was the right side that looks kind of bent and the third one is on the sides that tends to fold towards the inside, i let it stay down for 2 days and the screen remains the same without any noticeable changes. . I will be keeping this screen since the issues for me are tolerable by 60-40 and it won t hold me back from watching movies on this screen, but definitely not the quality i was looking for especially for the reputation that elite screens has. (i used to install night clubs audio, lighting and video systems in méxico). . I know what i was getting for the price and for being a pull down screen, but given that elite screen is a top brand, i trusted i wouldn t have this kind of issues even having read some bad reviews here. . I am happy with my purchase but not completely satisfied, in the future i will go with a fixed screen instead of a pull down and avoid this type of situations. . I will keep updating, in the meantime enjoy the show.

VIVO Universal Extending White Ceiling Projector Mount/Height Adjustable Projection MOUNT-VP02W

This works great so far. Here's a tip, i put this in a drop ceiling tile, but put a 1 x 6 board (cut to width of the tile so it reaches the drop ceiling frame) behind the tile to screw the mount into (through tile) for rigidity. Beats the $150 for a mount that replaces a ceiling tile.

Mount-vp02w is a brand new, heavy duty, universal ceiling projector mount. Ideal for any home or office, this high grade steel mount is weight tested at 30lbs and designed with adjustable arms to fit most projector brands with mounting ranges from 2" to 12. 5". Mount-vp02w extends from 15" to 23" from flat ceilings to fit the user's needs. Features include 15 degree tilt, 15 degree swivel, and 360 degree rotation to maximize projection angles. Simple tightening of joints makes this as fluid or stationary as desired. This is a quick assembly and comes with common mounting hardware. The projector mount comes in a white finish. Important note: as mentioned above the mounting arms for this projector mount have a maximum reach of 12. 5". Before purchasing, be sure to find the mounting holes on top of your projector and measure the distance between each one (especially the ones diagonal from one another). If all diagonals measure 12. 5" or less then this mount will fit your projector. Compatibility fits most projectors on the market. Distance between mounting holes on back of projector must be 12. 5" diagonally or less high-grade steel supports projectors up to 30 lbs features 15-degree tilt, 15-degree swivel, and 360-degree rotation, hitting all optimal viewing angles adjustable mounting system extends your projector from 15" to 23" from the ceiling surface possesses quick release hooks that detach and attach by loosening and tightening mounting bolts quick assembly and comes with common mounting hardware

Vivo Universal Adjustable Projection Mount Vp02w (Consumer Electronics) FAQ.

This was pretty simple to install. My projector was not really built to mount to this unit but, because the unit is so universally made, i was able to find a way to make it work. The joints and everything made it so i could adjust it to exactly how i wanted it. I love being able to feed the cables through the main arm so they are not showing everywhere. -Notice from . I had my doubts about buying this product because my optoma projector had some pretty narrow bolt pattern (almost like a triangle) and i didn't think it would be sturdy even if it did fit. Too my surprise the hardware came with many different sized bolts and once i attached it to the ceiling it is pretty darn sturdy. I can rotate the mount up down left and right in all directions. As long as you properly drill out the sized holes for the ceiling and use the anchor pins properly it will be sturdy. If possible try to go through a stud, that is what i did and for everything included you cant beat the price!

- M. DorothyWorked great with our epson 2040 projector. We mounted it just above the drop ceiling in our basement with no issues. Looks nice, especially if you hide the wires in the tube of the mount. Lots of adjustments could be made. The instructions for the mount were adequate; just required paying extra attention to the detailed drawings/parts. All in all, took me and my spouse less than an hour to mount the projector. Cannot believe how low the price is. Can't think of anything more one could want in a mount, although i am not at all familiar with mounts in general.

Worked great, easy to mount, instructions kinda sucked but it's not rocket science didn't even use them. Seems to be great quality for the price, fast prime shipping! make sure your projector will fit standard hole patterns, mine was close to only getting three arms attached, but some fidgeting and thinking got it to work.

F.A.Q. for cheetah mounts apmeb universal projector ceiling mount includes a 27 adjustable extension pole and a twisted veins 15' hdmi cable

Overall, the mount does its job. It holds the projector to the ceiling. . As for the installation process, it left a bit to be desired. . The extension poles were too long for my application. Not a huge deal. I simply cut them to fit my install. . My biggest problem with this mount is the fact that if you (or someone else) is holding it where you want them image, and you then tighten the bolts, the projector immediately settles and your image is nowhere near where you want it. This doesn't mean it's impossible to get it where you want it. But, it's time consuming and very irritating. . Another thing, this mount holds onto the projector with 4 legs. My epson home cinema 1440 only has 2 mounting holes. Also not a huge deal. But, definitely something to think about when looking at mounts. . Would i buy this mount again? yes. I'd look around a bit first though. . Update: after leaving this review, cheetah mounts emailed and called me in an attempt to make sure i was 100% happy with this mount. They recommended that i use paper as a shim in between the two pipes to steady it and fix my issue. I haven't done this yet. But, i was very impressed by the professionalism of this company. Would definitely do business with them again.

Holds my epson powerlite home cinema 3500 projector without any problems. However, as other reviewers have noted, while this projector mount has an adjustable mounting range, it can only be mounted at certain points along that range depending on how the holes align in the mounting tubes. This seemed fairly obvious prior to my purchase, based on other reviews and the photos of the unit, so i'm not upset by it. Just be aware that you may not be able to get it exactly where you want it. I was able to modify the tube by cutting it (surprisingly easily) with a "wrecking" blade in my reciprocating saw, so i was able to position my projector as close to the ceiling as i could. The only things i'm a little unsure of are the thumb screws that tighten over the swiveling "ball" just above the projector. They seem to have a tenuous grip on that ball, one that could easily fail, dropping my projector to the floor (despite the beefy characteristics of all of the other hardware). And i wasn't sure what to do with the included "safety cable. " i made some use of it, but not sure if it is as intended, and there's nothing about it in the instructions. . Update 5/24/16:. Just fyi, i received several calls and emails from the manufacturer in response to my original review. They were very eager to gather more information regarding my thoughts on the construction and installation of this mount so they could improve it for future purchasers. It's nice to see there are still some businesses out there that care about their patrons and want to offer quality products.

I used this on an optoma hd131xe. I had to switch out all of the arms with the shorter ones, and then insert them backwards so they would line up. It only took three of the arms, also. This was fine as they did line up. Then, like another reviewer mentioned, the silver shaft that creates the pivot is not pressed into the round black base well enough to cinch it up, so i had to weld the shaft to the round base. Otherwise, there was too much float to get the picture aligned with the screen properly. After these minor changes, it does the job it should. . *update*. . Surprisingly, i just received a call from the seller and they mentioned reading the above review. We talked about the adjustment i made to the mount in order to eliminate the extra movement. The lady explained the company reads customer reviews to ensure they are satisfied with the products they sell. I am impressed. When i wrote this review, i only did so to help others out but it may be even more beneficial because the seller says they will reassess the press-in part that causes the extra play. I have never experienced such over-the-top customer service. You have amazed me! she mentioned they warranty their products so if i ever run into a problem with anything i purchase from them in the future, to let them know and they will get it taken care of. Honestly, because i own a welder, it was an easy enough fix for me. You don't have to fully weld the shaft. It only needs a couple of tacks to eliminate the movement. Still, to further the awe-inspiring customer service experience, they are refunding the cost of the mount. I could live without the refund. Just getting the call and hearing the interest in learning how i corrected the problem was satisfactory. Buy from this seller! they are definitely worthy of my business! plus, who is so in touch with their customers anymore? kudos!

Does not work for small projectors. Otherwise good. . Edit: i was contacted by cheetah customer service after posting this review. I want to clarify something, which is that the projector it didn't work with was not a full-size projector, it's about a 7x10. While it would have been handy to have clearer specs or a minimum size projector, that information was probably available and it's my fault for not availing myself of it. However, i'm changing my review to 5 stars because the device itself is exactly what i ordered, at a fair price (my fault for buying a dinky projector), and because cheetah really seems to care about providing good customer service, which so far as i'm concerned makes them solid gold. I will not hesitate to purchase from them again, great job cheetah.

I bought this mount for use with the optoma hd142x projector. For my setup, i required 13" drop from the ceiling for my 120" screen and read from another reviewer that they were able to cut this mount to shorten it. So i ordered this one with the intention to do the same. And i was able to do it without much issue - here are my observations:. . 1. The optoma hd142x has 3 mounting holes. I wanted to get the mount positioned directly above the lens & with a little trial and error it can be done by using the short brackets and reversing one of them (see photo 1). The supplied screws are compatible. 2. When using the extension arms out of the box, it is 21" from top to the lens center (when it is fully compressed to its shortest length). After cutting both extension arms, i was able to reduce this length to my desired 13". I used a saws-all with metal hack blade and it cut easily. I tested this all out on the kitchen table before going to theater room (see photo 2). 3. My ceiling joists run every 16" & i mounted the shorted assembly using 2 of the supplied bolts (this was solid). There is a bit of give between the inner/outer pipes, but after really tightening the bolts it got snug and my image is holding steady (see photo 3). . All of this took me about an hour to complete and overall am pleased with the value of this mount. Final adjustment is a bit touchy, but since i will only be doing it one time i consider it a minor inconvenience.

I purchased this kit to install an overhead projector on a vaulted ceiling. The versatility and cost is why i chose this kit. I've used other cheetah products and had only minor issues. The instructions for installing the bracket to the ceiling recommend using a drill bit size that's too large. Make sure the bit is smaller than the screws being used. When installing the top tube to the ceiling bracket, there's a fair amount of play. When tightening the top bolt and pivot bolt, it compresses the tube. This in turn loosens one bolt as you tighten the other. I used a 1. 5" spacer (pic) and a washer i got at a local hardware store. This allows the bolts to be tightened to the point that the is no play. There needs to be another bolt in the kit for the extension tube. With only one bolt provided, there is too much play. This is easily fixed by using a second bolt. I wouldn't recommend using the extension at its maximum as it would allow only one bolt to be used. Maybe another spacer would allow it to be tightened enough to remove any play. I also added spacers to the ball-mount insert. Attaching projectors with a 3-hole mount is possible, even though this is set up for a 4-hole mount. I removed one of the arms and used one of the smaller adapters. Installing the projector is pretty straight forward. It can be a little tedious getting it adjusted just right. Overall quality is pretty good, but i would recommend to the company to use tighter tolerances between the tubes to make it a more solid setup out of the box.

This mount comes in one box and then allows you to pick which flavor you are going to use it in. There are two mounting poles and the base. You can decide based upon your installation if you are going to need to use the extension poles. This mount comes will all required installation materials (minus a 5/8 drill bit). The installation was very easy if you followed the directions. (which you should, aas the warranty is contingent upon you doing so) i am very happy with the mount. It does come with a 15' hdmi cable which i am using and seems to be of decent quality. Mine has a bad connection on the end and sometime i need to wiggle it. Overall i would purchase this again as well as recommend it to friends and family.

N. Kathlene, Torbay says

The first thing that happened when i opened the box was that one screw fell out. I never discovered where it was from, because none were missing from the unit, and all the extra screws were well-packed in separate compartments of a long, plastic bag. The bag had letters on each compartment that matched the instructions' descriptions of the parts. . Instructions were brief. Not the worst i've seen, but they could easily be improved. Isn't there one unemployed english-speaking person in china who would like to improve the lives of millions of people by writing (and verifying) assembly manuals for the items they ship here? the instructions cover mounting it to a wall. Who would do that? you mount it to a ceiling. They should have done a global search-and-replace on the instructions to change 'wall' to 'ceiling', and 'studs' to 'joists'. . Our projector only required 3 mounting holes, which the instructions cover (remove one of the four arms), but the holes were too close together to assemble the mount normally. I had to turn the brackets around to face inward instead of out. The problem with that is that then a normal screwdriver doesn't fit down through the adjustment slots to tighten the screws that go into the projector. It took a bit of messing around, disassembling the slide portions one or two at a time, tightening each bracket to the projector, reassembling, then disassembling the next two to get it all together tightly. . What's the cable and clip for? i don't know, and the instructions don't say. . I had to really crank down on the 3 bolts at the top where it swivels and the one near the bottom to get it to not wobble and move the display off the wall screen. . Everything was made of heavier-gauge metal, so it should last forever, and hold up well. Plenty of ways to adjust it to fit any unit you want to hang. . Update: 04/19/2015. The company contacted me a couple weeks ago. They had read my review (and the reviews of others), and had made updates to their hardware and instructions. The customer service girl asked me about all the issues in my review, and at the end offered to send me a replacement mount. A few days later, it arrived. . A week later, i had time to open it up and check it out. The instructions were much better than before! i only found 1 grammatical error, and i'm pretty picky about grammar. The instructions didn't mention the little safety cable at all, which was odd. My projector doesn't have a mount point for the cable, so i didn't need it. This version came with a nice hdmi cable, and the point where the ball joint meets the projector mounting plate was rock-solid. The previous mount had a loose joint there, so no matter what you did, it wobbled. . Customer service called me back to see what i thought. I thanked them for the replacement and praised the improvements. . Cheetah mounts definitely has great customer service, right up there with online store!

V. Bullock, Norfolk

I have an optoma 142x, and because its mounting holes are very close together, it was difficult to adjust the arms of this mount to fit - i had to take off all the extensions, substitute the smaller ones, turn one backwards, and try several different arm orientations before i found one that fits. . As others have mentioned, it's difficult to adjust the ball joint of this mount precisely using the two screw knobs. And unfortunately the outer extension pole doesn't attach tightly to the inner pole, so even if you do get the ball joint to be tight and properly adjusted, the projector can still wobble because of these loose extension poles. . Several people and the instructions mention a clear plastic disc spacer to go in the ball joint. Because i read this in the reviews prior to buying this, i was very careful to look for it when i opened the package. But it was nowhere to be found! . . On the positive side, the mount is very solidly constructed with an attractive finish. . And even better, the customer service from this company is amazing - i was contacted immediately after writing to them, and they helped through the issues i had. . On the whole, it's a very good value for the money.

J. Mable, Lincolnshire says

This product is not simple to assemble at all. The directions are awful and it's very confusing. We tried to screw it into the ceiling and it just wasn't happening. The tools needed for that task are not included in this kit. If you want a easy to assemble ready to use mount; it isn't this. . Update: the company contacted me and gave a full refund and sent us a free product to replace this one to try. Unfortunately that product was also faulty, but the customer service is fantastic with this company. The products i can't say the best things, but if something goes wrong and you are unhappy, they do their best to make it right. That is why i gave four stars. The products are not four stars, but the customer service is.

. Jennifer, South Dakota

Mount worked great. I mounted it on a stud in a drop ceiling, and due to the stud location my projector image was slightly too large. Even with the zoom/focus adjusted as much as possible it was still too large. Since this has the ability to rotate i was able to adjust the mount to make up the 6 inches i needed to move the projector. Works great, install was pretty straight forward and easy. I did have some slight trouble with getting the projector bracket connected to the mount. It took more force than i anticipated but once it was together it worked really well, allowing for a lot of flexibility. . The only drawback i had was that the projector brackets was too large to fit the normal mounting holes in my projector. I had to remove the projector feet and use those holes instead.

E. Fabian, Durham says

Bought this product and had a hard time hooking it up to my acer projector. It is off center and it sits on a ball joint. The center of gravity forces the projector to move from the originally set position. Please dont buy this if you have acer 6510. . Update : i got a call from the cheetah mount customer support immediately a day after the review was written. They acknowledge that some customers faced an issue when using this mount with off center projectors or very heavy projectors. They informed that they try to read every review posted and get back to the buyers regarding the reviews. I was told that they take into consideration all inputs provided in case of issues and the rnd team uses these inputs to make a better product. I was offered a full refund for the trouble as the prototype for the better version of this product is still in development and they could not provide me a better replacement. . I am very happy with the customer support and the effort they took to make sure the customer is satisfied with the product. I will definitely buy another product from them.

This projector mount is exactly what we were looking for. We bought a projector to go between our basement and sunroom, this mount didn't quite workout in the basement as we were hoping, we couldn't get the angle quite right but it was due to the room design, not this item. It works perfectly in our sunroom and i'd definitely recommend it! we got exactly what we were expecting and it's heavy, durable and stable. The item arrived quickly and exactly as described. I'd buy from this seller again in a heartbeat. Thanks! . Description from online store:. Universal design with four adjustable arms: the arms are fully adjustable to fit virtually any projector. The arms are also removable for projectors that have less than 4 mounting points. Vaulted ceiling plate: the apmeb is designed so it may be used with vaulted ceilings. 7" low profile and optional adjustable extension pole: the apmeb is ideal for low profile mounting as well as setups that require an extension pole. The profile is 7" without the extension. With the extension, the profile has an adjustable range of 18. 75-27". Safety cable: attach the projector to the mount with the metal tether for added security during installation. The cable may also be used as an extra element of security once the projector is mounted. Cable management: the center of the ceiling plate is stamped out to allow cables to pass through for a clean and sleek cable management system.

Does not hold my epson projector. The ball/friction mount just can't hold the projector in place. I have the mount so that it is as balanced as possible but it's front heavy and slowly dips down in a short amount of time. I use a strip of duct tape to hold the projector in the right position. . Update 11/3/2016 - they redesigned the mount (specifically the ball joint) and it now holds the projector just fine. I want to thank cheetah for not only sending me the new one but also calling me to make sure i got it and that it worked. I now question why the epson projector has its screw holes located so that the projector will not be balanced on the mount which makes it harder to adjust.

I. Nielsen, Knowsley says

Used this mount to hold up my projector and premier moves in collaboration with the 119" manual projector screen from online store. Fantastic setup all together. Actually mounted it to a drop ceiling panel by laying a thicker piece of plywood behind the panel extending over the tracks to dissipate the load weight. Worked perfectly and was a breeze to put together. Actually took me longer to figure out how to flip the image on the projector as my style is used mounted upside down on the mount. Supplied hdmi cord worked great for the beginning setup. Actually ended up using a 100' hdmi cable to run everything to my receiver in another room, works perfect and will use the hdmi this came with for connecting the receiver to the dvd player. Would definitely purchase again as the price is great for a quality item. The cords from the projector feed up through the support to be out of site, quick tip is to run the cables through before mounting to the roof, just makes everything easier.

H. Cortney, Washington

This is a pretty good mount. I set it up with an epson 2045 and while it initially appeared to bias extremely forward due to some weird mounting hole placement on the epson, i was able to spend a bit of time and get it set up to hold right above the center of gravity, which is basically right on top of the rear mounting hole. It tooks some monkeying but if you swap to the smaller extension arm it is doable. . The ceiling mount attached nicely, although i swapped out the provided screws for a set of drywall mounts. . The problem i have with this unit is the way that the two pieces connect. It uses a ball & joint connection, and while it is quite versatile it can be pretty difficult to adjust precisely, and you have to re-adjust it every time you take the unit down. For that reason i'm taking off a star, since it's not a problem in the day-to-day use, but is obnoxious when changing a bulb or cleaning filters, or anything else that requires taking the projector down. I would also not suggest this mount to someone mounting it underneath where people walk. While i don't have upstairs neighbors, it is prone to vibrations that are quite annoying while i'm running the dryer. . The included hdmi cable is good quality, and a nice length. It was a little short for my setup but i made it work.

. Rochelle, Walsall says

I purchased this mount to go with the optoma hd142x projector and silver ticket products 100 inch screen. The mount is robustly built - metal construction that actually makes it heavier than my projector. The included hdmi cable is also good quality, and saved me some money in building my setup. I installed the mount directly into the ceiling joists using the included lag bolts (which requires pre-drilling). You will save yourself time and energy by using a socket wrench to tighten the lag bolts. Once properly secured into the joists, the mount is quite strong. The most challenging part of installation was figuring out how to attach the projector to the mount. It seems to be primarily made for projectors that are larger than the hd142x, which has 3 mounting holes that are fairly close together. I ended up buying longer screws from lowe's, and not using the l-shaped "foot brackets". All of the bolts on the mount required a significant amount of tightening. The primary adjustment mechanism for aiming the projector is the ball joint, which provides some flexibility.

K. Mahood, Massachusetts

Update: spn performance contacted me shortly after i made the review and were incredibly responsive and get receptive regarding the modification i made to improve the mount. I am updating my review to reflect the excellent customer service i received, without even having to ask. . Its definitely strong, i weigh 160lbs and i could probably hang from it if i wanted to, but the lack of good fit and finish means that its somewhat wobbly and requires some modification to hold the projector in place without swinging. When i first put it up the bottom of the mount would swing back and forth at least 1/4" no matter how tight i tried to get it. I had to make a sleeve to fit in between the pipes to keep everything from wobbling as somebody walked by. For $23 however, its a pretty good deal and has the potential to be very sturdy if you don't mind tinkering with it a bit to get it right.

Q. Kimberly, Bedfordshire says

Alright so it's been just under a year since i bought this. Originally for a powerlite 83+ from epson, now a hc2150. . It simply works. There are a few cons though. Nothing major. . First, the mount is towards the front, so the projector naturally tilts back regardless of tightness. I don't want to overtighten because it could strip. . Secondly, i feel that it's a bit insecure because just by slightly loosening a screw where the ball joint is could cause a $900 projector to drop and break. The included safety harness cable is too short to be useful. . Third, the included hardware is pretty much for concrete. I bought toggle bolts which i think should be included, as most buyers will be using those anyhow. . These aren't really complaints as much as precautions and suggestions. It's a great value, and 4x+ cheaper than official epson. . The included hdmi cable is good for interfacing with a computer or a terminal, but i would recommend getting something better. Not that it matters, it's just a free included bonus, but i just felt i'd mention that it seems to throttle bandwidth. Again, not an issue because all i wanted was the mount. . If you're looking for something that just works, you've found it. . Here's my last thing to add. Be sure to use toggle bolts in drywall. Be sure the heads of the bolts are large enough. Be sure to add a safety wire from the projector to one of the bolts if the ball joint fails. Be sure to not exceed the maximum weight tolerance of both the mount and the drywall whether wall or ceiling.

M. Neva, Wyoming

This kit was fantastic! used it to mount an epson homecinema 500 (also purchased off online store) to the ceiling in a bedroom. It worked perfectly! my only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to include toggle bolts. The plastic wall anchors that are included with this kit are ok, but when hanging anything from drywall toggle bolts are a much better option. I got four of them from home depot for $2. 00 and would recommend that over using plastic screw anchors any day. Hope this helps! . . Edit:. Wow . I can't believe the amazing customer service from this seller. They read the above review, called me the very next day (left voicemail) and thanked me for the review and suggestion. They then refunded me $6. 00 to cover the toggle bolts (i didn't even ask them to! ) this is a fine mount from an outstanding online store seller! they really do want you to be 100% satisfied with there product. Thank you!

Z. Benton, Kansas says

I purchased this to mount an epson 2045 projector (which is basically the same as an epson 2040). Everything worked fine. The projector has three attachment points to screw in, towards the front of the projector. It seems weird at first, but once it's all locked in, it works fine. . Something that probably needs to be revisited in terms of a design, is there drywall anchors. I assume that most people will be installing this into the typical 5/8 inch thick drywall. I found that the anchors they give for the drywall bolts 10 to pull out of the ceiling. I've done a fair amount of remodeling and drywall work in my day, and i think that these drywall anchors are simply too thick for the drywall to bear. I don't know maybe it's just a design flaw. At any rate, to reinforce the bolts i simply used somewhat smaller screws and anchors and affixed it with those as well. The boots i just added in addition. It seems secure enough.

Not quite as "universal" as i had hoped. Have an optoma hd131xe, and had to position the mount to the side to get 3 legs to fit to the screw-holes. But because the mount post is not centered, the vp wants to tip to the heavier side, so minor adjustments (which are necessary when shooting from 10 feet away) is very difficult. The mount seems of good quality, just couldn't mount in the center for my vp, so i would not buy again. . Update: customer service called to ask me about the mount, offered to refund the entire cost, and additionally offered to send me a replacement mount. I declined the refund, because the truth is that the mount does work, it just required a bit more work and finesse than i would have hoped for. Unfortunately, with my projector (discontinued, so don't worry about accidentally buying it) the mounting holes are on one side, so a lopsided mounting is likely to happen anyway, regardless of the mount used. The cheetah mount is a bit loose and could be designed a bit better, but for the price it is a good deal. I recommend buying from this company-they have incredibly responsive customer service and a well-priced product.

I selected this product over many others solely based on the fact that so many others have said when there's a problem this company makes it right. Fortunately it mounted very easy with no hassle but it was nice to know that if there was a problem, the manufacturer would take good care of you. . As for the mount itself, it's very straight forward. I mounted it on the ceiling (without the extension bar). I have a vivitek projector and had to use the included short arm brackets. I pre-drilled the the mounting holes in the ceiling studs and used a socket to ratchet in the supplied bolts. Overall it took about 20 minutes. The construction of the mount is very sturdy and i love the included hdmi cable. . I highly recommend this product.

A. Meredith, Trafford

It did the job and i cant complain for the price! i mounted a pretty heavy sony home theater projector to it and it has yet to fall on our heads. We rarely have to readjust the mount and if i trusted my ceiling, i could probably hang from this thing myself. The free hdmi cables are a nice touch. It took a little time to figure out how to get the mounts to fit the holes on the projector. I may have even had to settle with only three mounting points. Its still sturdy enough that you wouldnt know the difference without looking closely at it. Thats the projectors fault. It is definitely easier if you have two people to mount this, but i dont think you need a pro or even a partner with both of their arms to get this thing up. Cheers!

I gave this 4 stars because after i reconfigured it about 5 times, i finally centered the mount in the middle of my projector. Don't expect it to hold position with the wing screws if you aren't centered on the projector. They just can't hold the lopsided weight. So it works once centered and holds position very well. My gripe was the extension length wasn't nearly as adjustable as i had hoped. I ended up just using the plate and mount, ditching the extension posts. The hdmi that came with it was decent, nothing really special here. Update: i can't say enough about spn performance! they were super eager to assist in my issues and help out. You don't find customer service like that these days. Will certainly use them for my future mounting needs!

This mount is awesome! our church bought a cheetah tv amount a few months ago and we were blown away by the quality and the extras it came with so we decided to get a cheetah mount for our new projector. We were not disappointed. This mount is everything and more than you could need. . Unboxing: first of all we noticed that it came with a lot of extras. It came with the mount, extra brackets for fitting all projector sizes, an arm extender, an hdmi cable, and a keychain light. So it is was a fun experience unboxing it all. . Assembly: our projector is small, so we had to change out the long feet for the short ones. It was simple and easy. Took about 5 minutes. Attaching it to the ceiling was easy. Few screws and done. Nice feature we didn't expect is that the cables can be hidden inside the arm so they don't show. It's a clean look with no dangling cables. . Adjusting: when adjusting to get the right height and angle, this mount was fluid and easy. No problems at all. . We will be buying cheetah mounts for every future mounting need for sure.

. Dorine, Derbyshire says

This mount did everything i needed it to. It had two different sized arm pieces. The arms are fully adjustable in both length and angle. The mount came with 4 bolts with concrete anchors and 3 different screw sizes to fit multiple projector sizes ( i was able to test with an optoma hd65 and my recently purchased optoma w311). For the w311, it took about 5 minutes to get the mount attached to my projector, which includes switching out the arms for the shorter ones and positioning the main connection point to where i wanted it for my setup. Photos show package contents, projector with mount alone and final setup. . If you are looking for a fully adjustable projector mount, i would highly recommend this one.

Top universal projector ceiling mount Review

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

N. Lawrence, Thurrock says

Not a great mount for small projectors. It may be a good mount for a projector at least 20 lb in weight. This is not good for a 5 lb projector. Really think before you buy. Instructions are really terrible. Need to buy some hardware from local store. Since i don't want to return and buy another one withing a short time. Need to test the projector at the earliest. . Hope the manufacturer will review this and consider this spec and instructions. . Update 5/24: received an e-mail from customer service 2 weeks back about to help me on the installation. Only e-mail came to me and they said customer service team will be in touch with you. No one contacted me so far. No words to explain.

I ordered one of these mounts installed it and mounted my optoma hd28 projector. It is not a heavy projector at all. I made sure everything was tight and snug. Still the projector doesn't stay in place. It kept drooping a little down slowly. It was moving the picture outside the frame for me. I called the customer service and they sent a free unit. But it has the same exact problem. I think there is something wrong with the design or between my projector model and this mount. I got tired of adjusting it and finally removed the frame so even thought the picture moved i wouldn't notice!

M. Jacqueline, New Jersey says

Edit august 13, 2015. . Unfortunately, the new design is already completely failing to hold the projector in place again, even if i crank down very hard. . Edit april 29, 2015. . First, i want to thank the customer service from cheetah mounts. They have gone above and beyond to address my issues. There is a subtly updated version of this mount now, which they shipped me at no charge. The changes, as far as i can tell, are these three things: the cup which holds the mounting ball now has small bumps to add friction, the mounting ball is now completely round to give more surface area to grip, and the knobs to tighten the projector into place have been redesigned slightly. While these changes are subtle, i can happily report that my projector now stays in place and doesn't drift! . . Oh, and my projector is epson. I see a review stating that this mount doesn't work with 3-point mounting types, but it does. You just have to remove one of the four arms and use a short arm for one side. It is a universal mount, so it doesn't come pre-assembled for a specific projector. . Original review:. . I purchased this mount for use with an epson ex7220. A lot of parts are included to make the mount universal, and with a bit of effort i was able to put it together. So far, so good. Unfortunately, the mount is not able to hold my projector in place for long, even with the thumb screw cranked down. It slowly drifts out of position, requiring adjustment at least a few times a week. . I don't doubt that this mount works well for a lot of projectors, but i will have to purchase another or diy some fixes to get it to work for me.

L. Brenda, Liverpool

I ordered two of these. Overall, these mounts seem to be ok, but installing them was a pain. The anchors included are crap. The do not hold and pulled out of the drywall even before finish the installation. They left holes in my ceiling that i will now have to patch and i had to go and buy some butterfly bolts to mount them. It is also rather loose after being put together. It doesn't seem that you can tighten some of the bolts tight enough. Other than that it seems to be doing its job.

I decided to mount my optoma uhd60 to the ceiling. (pro-tip, this mount isn't compatible with the optomoa uhd60 4k projector). While the instructions were easy to read and follow, the construction of the device is solid, it's a great machined black and there aren't any sharp corners. . Pro:. Black. Sturdy. Strong. Mounting hardware included. High quality 15 foot hdmi cable. . Cons:. 15 foot hdmi cable can't handle 4k/60 hdr feeds. It flickered and cut the signal in and out. I presume a 1080p signal wouldn't max it out. Mount holes stop at m5, my projector was an m6. Had to run to a hardware store and grab m6 bolts and bore out the holes a tad on the hardware. Telescoping poles are bolted in instead of spring action. . Overall, this is a great mount. I was able to quickly set it up and mount the projector above my bed to project on a 92" screen in my small bedroom. It gives the illusion of a movie theater. I do experience some over-time sag as others have reported, but i think i might replace some of those washers with gripped washers instead. . What more could you ask for, for the price. My project was 4 hole mount, but this easily is able to change size and shapes of almost any mounting capability.

E. Angela, Bayern

I gave them 3 stars because the finish and the material are very good, unfortunately because one thing they take the 5 stars. The piece who hold the projector who have a metal bole who have to be connected to a female concave piece who is in the other part of the rack (the pole the ones goes to the ceiling), well when you get the bole inside the female part, you have 2 screws to tie and hold the angle and the rotation you need to have to adjust the projector against the screen. Well bad design because you need to tie the screws like 20 degrees more and let it go so you can find the correct position, meaning this 2 screws and the bole system it is not good for this type of job. For a security camera rack works, but over time this move because the 2 screws will never stay there with the weight of the projector. If they change that design with a nice bolts or some different concept this rack will rocks and will be the top. I can't believe they did that poor design

Q. Newell, Kensington and Chelsea says

I give this mount 3 stars because it's functional and that's about the only positive thing i have to say. I have several issues with it though. The telescoping tubing has so much slop between the inner diameter of one pipe and the outer diameter of the smaller pipe, that i had to shim it with electrical tape to prevent it from having up to 1/4" of movement/slop. Also, the way you adjust the aim point is very difficult because the ball joint is very sloppy and will creep after you've tightened everything down. Causing you to have to aim your projector past where you want it and hope that you've guesstimated the right amount of creep for when you let it go. This product has the fit and finish of something i would kludge together in my garage with some spare metal tubing, a hacksaw, and whatever bolts i have laying around. . I don't have any experience with a alternative product, but i would suggest spending an extra $50 to avoid the headache caused by this minimal quality product. Ymmv. . * update *. . I'm updating my review after being contacted by the manufacturer. They contacted me in response to the above review in order to get feedback to improve their future product. They were very professional on the phone and mentioned that their next model will address most of my issues. On top of that, they gave me a full refund on my purchase. While my comments on the current product are unchanged, i would consider the newer model if one ever comes out.

A. Bullock, Suffolk

Gets the job done but doesn't mount very well with my viewsonic pjd5134 svga dlp projector because of the location of the screw holes on the projector. It took me about 2 days to figure out how to fit it onto my projector i just ended up googling it and read other people's experiences. The projector connects to a ball joint and you just tighten 2 screws to keep it tight in a certain position. So you have to make sure you really tighten it. Update* post my 2 star rating the company returned my money for this average product. And now that i did not change the 2 star rating they are continuously calling me leaving me voicemai and emails regarding of why there is still a negative review. Well the product is still average. My complaint is not with the company it is with the product. And now i would consider borderline harassment from this company because of the 2 star rating.

Z. Nellie, Herefordshire says

I purchased this mount for my benq ht1075. The first unit i received had an issue with the plate that attaches to the ball mount being loose, so i could never get decent screen alignment that would stay in place. I contacted customer service and they promptly sent me a new mount. The new one i received had a tight connection where the ball joint is pressed into a metal plate, so i was excited to have my problem solved. The problem was then that with the way the projector moves while adjusting the set screws, i tried leaving the set screws tight and manually adjust the the projector to offset the drift. Big mistake, because the metal plate is too thin and that made the pressed connection loose, resulting in the same problem i had with the first unit i received. The customer service was great, just a bad design element has me tired of messing with it and now looking for a new mount.

. Olga, Cumbria

I have to give this mount only 2 stars. I will start with the good:. 1. Cable run for wires through the tube. 2. Nice finish. 3. Very configurable. . Now to the negatives:. 1. The room for the wires between the mounting bolts and the inside of the tube is pretty small. Do not expect to run many or any larger wires as you have to have room for the bolts to go through the middle of the tube. 2. One of the corners on the ceiling mounting base was bent. I can deal with this as i was able to work it back flat with out cracking the finish. 3. Mounting lengths not flexible enough on the lower sizes. While this may not be an issue if you have 10 foot ceilings, with the 8 foot ceiling you either have to choose between right up next to the ceiling or roughly 18" down. This puts the projector right about where the top of my head is. I am really not considering this as a full negative as it only really applies to those with 8' ceilings or that have a ceiling fan in the middle of their room which keeps them from hanging it close to the ceiling. 4. While trying to tighten up the bracket as a whole (where the pole goes into the ceiling bracket) i noticed that the width of the base plate arms and the tube are enough different that when you put in the "upper bolt" it loosens the lower bolt. The bracket ends up coming toward the tube at an angle. Even with what i felt was excessive tightening, the tube is still loose in the bracket. 5. This is the big one. If you look at the picture of the item, you will notice the bracket that attaches to the projector. The issue i am having is that the connection between that middle plate and the ball joint that allows for swivel is a pressure joint. There are a couple of problems with this design. The one i have is loose. This was making it near impossible to get the projector to stay aimed. Every little vibration in the ceiling (front door closing, sub woofer pounding) caused the projector to move slightly. I was able to take the plate apart and pound on that pressure fitting a bit to get it tighter but it is not solid still. The only fix i can see (other than replacing it) would be to take it apart, drill out the pressure fitting and tap the hole to put a machine screw in. The second issue with this is that i can see with the extra movement it could eventually loosen up over time to the point where it would allow the projector to drop. So do not mount a heavier projector to this mount. 6. The screws for tightening up the ball joint tend to grab on to the joint and twist it while tightening up. I had to place the projector in an un-aimed position and tighten it up. Then, if it over shot the final spot (or under-shot) i would have to start over. It took quite a while to get the projector aimed just right. . Finally, i would like to address another review on here. The other reviewer warns away from this mount for acer projectors. This is due to the small spacing between the mounting holes on the projector. In case you do not heed the rest of this review and go ahead and purchase this mount, i will attempt to explain how to get the mount to work. They provide an extra set of legs for the part where you mount the projector. If you take those and replace the longer ones and turn them backward so that they point in toward the middle, this will space them just right for the screw holes on the acer. Good luck with this mount, you may need it. . *edit*. I was recently contacted by a representative of the company. I was impressed by their professionalism and prompt response to my feedback. Since the contact from the company does not fix the issues with the mount, but they are working on redesigning the product, i will bump this up by one star.

T. Crawford, Poole says

This mount is just okay for me. I lit holds the projector but doesn t stay where i position it. Whenever i take my hand off the projector it falls just a bit. That s the reason i gave it 3 stars. I fixed the issue by moving my screen. Easy fix but the mount moves a bit too much and there is no way to tighten it so that the projector stays where you put it. This wasn t a super huge deal to me, but it is something that buyers should be aware of.

J. Lynette, Medway

I purchased this mount because it was the cheapest mount i could find on online store with no glaring bad reviews or obvious faults. This was a mistake. I did not take into account the importance of having a good mechanism for adjusting the projector precisely to fit the borders of the screen. The pipes wiggle a bit and the tilting mechanism at the bottom is difficult to adjust precisely- and worse still, it doesn't always hold its position adequately once set. So, to adjust it, you need to overcompensate a bit for how it will all shift when you let go. . I managed to eliminate some pipe wiggle with a tight wrap of vinyl tape, and my screen is currently adjusted very well to my satisfaction. It feels solidly constructed, and wasn't too tough to install- at least, as easy as any installation that requires overhead drilling. I'm not worried about it all now that its installed, so it definitely meets my initial criteria. If you absolutely can't afford to spend more on a projector mount, this one is good and it will work. But if i could do it all over again, i'd happily spend more for a mount with a better mechanism for projector adjustment. Once this one is set, it works, but it's a lot of work to get it right. . Edit: the manufacturer contacted me in response to this review and offered me an unsolicited partial refund. I was told there is a newer model out that addresses my concerns, including the pipe wiggle, and they offered to send me the new one at no charge. I appreciate that, but i don't want to redo my installation, and it really is fine once you get it adjusted, it's just that adjustment that's the hard part. . If there's a new model with a better adjustment mechanism, and they fixed those issues, this would be a really great mount for the money. Also a very positive customer service experience.

S. Claudia, Gateshead says

An average projector mount. It will hold a lighter project well, and the extra accessories are nice, however i would not recommend this for a larger more heavy projector. I attempted to use it with a sony vpl 40es and the ball joint for swivel and oscillation would allow the projector to tilt no matter how tight you got the ball joint. I am in the process of replacing it with a bolted joint hanger which should eliminate any movement. . I will say that spn performance contacted me after this review and gave incredible service. They contacted me and offered to replace the mount or partially refund my purchase even though they didn't have to. They ended up completely refunding my purchase and i give them 5 stars for incredible service.

. Shirley, Georgia

Here's whats wrong: although the steel is heavy and the design is mostly good, there are two big problems: (1) the ball and socket arrangement is very hard to adjust, although you would think it would be good. A much better design would be to limit the motion to horizontal and vertical only, as with the design of some other mounts, so you could do vertical tilting, followed by horizontal adjustment, or vice-versa . Any small tilting of the image on the screen could then be corrected with shims on the base of the mounting plate. The problem is exacerbated if the projector is heavy and particularly if the mounting screw socket positions do not allow the projector to be suspended at the exact center of its mass. This is true of my optoma 142x, for example. Even with its meager 5 lb weight the projector wants to tip badly at an angle. I solved this problem by attaching a turnbuckle from the rear of the projector to the ceiling mounting plate of the ceiling mount, but it took a lot of time to do this. (2) another reviewer mentioned the connection of the metal ball post to the projector mounting plate. This is simply a force fit, not involving bolts. There was play in my connection, so the projector could wobble. I did several hours of modification, using lathe and drill. The connection now has a very solid (and much safer) bolted connection. If you have reason to suspend the projector at an distance from the ceiling greater than that if neither extension tube were used, but less than that of any single tube, you will have do some cutting. I have everything perfect now but it took a couple of days.

O. Rowe, Ohio says

I thought this mount was nice, until i had to install it on the ceiling. No matter what, the projector does not sit tightly. I can tighten the screws in the correct position, but there is still play and the projector is able to move about, making it extremely frustrating to try to fit it within a screen/frame on the wall. I would steer clear of this product for this reason. I bought it about a month ago, and i just missed out on the replace time. Not too happy about that!

. Gina, Derby

This is my first review of any product. It is almost impossible to get the projector alignment correct with this mount. I have a epson hc2045 and spent days to get the correct alignment but failed. Finally i gave up and bought a vivo projector mount. With vivo only one person is needed for alignment since the projector hangs safely in the mount and you can adjust pitch, roll and yaw independently. With cheetah you need two person, one to adjust and one to hold the projector. So you can imagine how that will work out. It is very difficult to synchronize and once you get correct alignment, after sometime it will shift and will lose the alignment. . My advice would be stay away from this product, not sure how this is the best seller.

Y. Lara, Indiana says

You get what you pay for. I have purchased cheetah mounts for my flat screens and they did the job, but when i installed this projector mount, i wasn't impressed. After doing all of my measurements, i drilled this into my ceiling beams, and after messing with it a bit i got it to fit onto my epson projector. Once mounted, the hardware for the arm, and side to side ball bearing would not tighten to keep the projector at my preferred angle. I was forced to manipulate my projectors settings a lot in order to get my picture to quality. I will be upgrading to a higher quality mount soon.

. Garner, South Tyneside

This mount did adjust to my 3 hole epson 2045 but the center of gravity was off and the adjustments to hold the projector in alignment are way too wobbly. One sliding pipe pole to adjust the height is a different diameter than the other with a resultant wobble no matter what you do. All the tolerance's are poor and the mount wobbles at the slightest touch. If you plug in an hdmi cord to game, forget it. The slight pressure of plugging it in moves the projector way out of alignment. The steel is heavy duty and strong but the wobbling is engineered into the product. You will constantly be nudging the projector back and forth and hope when it inevitably shifts position, it falls into alignment by sheer luck. Cheetah should be ashamed by this mount. I'm looking for a replacement. Very poor.

V. Jackson, Lorraine says

You get what you pay for. These are not great projector mounts but they are cheap. It's incredibly wobbly and you'll have to crank down the bolts to a ridiculous amount to keep your projector from wobbling if a fly lands on it. But you can crank them down so. Meh. . That said this mount comes with a thorough set of screws, mount accessories, and everything you'll need to make it work with your projector. While the projector connector is clunky it does work well and they give you lots of options so should work with most projectors. . The kit also comes with an hdmi cable but you should immediately throw it out, it's terrible and almost caused me to not be able to make a presentation. Luckily i brought another hdmi cable. . If you just need a cheap mount till you can get a better one this works well but you're really going to need to spend $200 to get a good mount.

F. Alberta, Rotherham

When i was looking for a projector mount for my epson 2045, this mount came up. But it does not fit the epson 2045 at all and on top of that did not come with any screws that would be used to attach the projector. The 2045 has a middle hole that this mount covers. Seller should not say that it is universal, its misleading. Now i need to return this :(

D. Denise, Wolverhampton says

Quality of the product was ok but returned for a refund after finding that the mounting bracket is not compatible with my projector (the epson powerlite home cinema 2030).

K. Dorothy, South Carolina

I like cheetah products, but this one seems to have a defect. The ball mount is just too loose and cannot be tightened enough to keep the projector in place. My projector is large, but i would expect a projector mount to be able to hold a large projector in place without issue. My projector needs to be held in a slightly tilted position, but the ball mount slowly slips over the course of 3-4 days. Aside from my projector image always being 1-2 inches higher than i would like, it is an easy to install product, and i generally like cheetah products. I believe i will be buying a new mount soon.

X. Teresa, Poitou-Charentes says

It does work as advertised. Don't be cheap. Buy the mount made for your projector. I tried this and then immediately forked over $120 for the epson mount for my epson projector. There is no comparison is how much nicer and easier to use the epson mount is. This mount is hard to get to stay where you want it. But if you're a major cheap skate and don't care about that, this could be the mount for you.

B. Veronica, New Brunswick

It's sturdy, clean looking, and i made it work but it wasn't as smooth as it could have been. I used it with a new optoma uhd60. The screws in the kit didn't fit my optoma. I needed m6 10mm. I had some in my screw bin in the garage so no biggie. Also, i had to drill out the mounting feet so the larger screws would fit. That makes sense since this size screws weren't in the kit. The rest of the assembly went relatively normal. The directions say to use a 3/8" bit for the mounting lag bolts, which is incorrect. That size is too big. Good thing i eyeballed the bit against the bolt. . The real biggie problem was after the projector was mounted and i was making final adjustments. I discovered the center of the hub is loose. The wobble makes it virtually impossible to make fine aiming adjustments. You have to over-adjust and pray the wobble back is about right. I got lucky and it's set ok for now. . I'm moving in a few months and leaving this mount behind. I'll buy a better mount for my next home. Not worth the hassle. If i do take the mount apart again, i'll epoxy it down tight but i shouldn't have to.

W. Alba, Queensland says

I recently purchased this mount and installed it for my benq ht1075. . Overall, i think it's a decent mount, but my main gripe comes with the tightening of the ball joint. More on that later. . As far as pros go, the mount is made out of very sturdy material. The lag bolts includes did the trick in securing it to the 2x4 it was mounted on. I only used 2 lag bolts with some extra screws. With some ingenuity this should be a great budget mount for anyone. . When installing the mount, i thought it was a bit odd the mount went from a 7" bracket-base distance to the extensions' (which have to be used together) total distance of 17" at a minimum. No biggie, i have a saw, so i cut it down to what i needed and moved on with my day. . Next, my mount package only came with 5 bolts to attach the pole pieces together. This left a considerable amount of wiggle where the two extension poles are connected. Thinking back, i doubt another bolt would have solved my problem considering the bolts aren't tight in the holes and there isn't any tightening between the two poles. Also, not a biggie, but i have some shims and putting those in made the pole solid as a rock. . Onto my main issue, the ball joint. In order to tighten this thing, you have to loosen the bolts above the joint, and then adjust it by grabbing the plate to do the final touches of positioning the projector image. You can't move the projector, because the brackets that attach to the plate will flex when moving and tightening the bolts. The plate is the most solid part, so that's what you'll have to use to adjust. Then, while holding the plate and making sure its where you want your projector, you have to tighten each side at the same time. If you don't, you'll risk the projector moving while tightening and holding. Its definitely a two person job. Also, those bolts don't seem to hold the projector very well. A little bump and you're off once again. Something that was a little stronger for tightening that final bit would have been awesome. . But after that long rant. I think this is a decent product for the price. It is made of out strong material, but the installation process requires a bit of ingenuity.

. Sheila, City of Kingston upon Hull

Hdmi cable did not work (picture was cutting out but stopped when i swapped the cable). Extension bars to not lock together so it's wobbly. . I don't like hanging the projector by the thumb screws. The metal wire used as a safety mechanism is oddly short, one end is a cheap clip. I'm not even sure what to do with it. . Difficult to get the properly angle when mounting the projector.

U. Debra, Bexley says

I almost never write reviews, but this is a product that has driven me crazy. Avoid this product at all costs. Do yourself a favor and get a quality projector mount. There are so many issues with this product, but the one that drives me the craziest is the inability to hold the projector tightly. Whereas most other projector mounts allow the projector to stay wherever you set it, this projector mount will not. Ive put all the correct screws and even tried crazy gluing the metal bracket to the metal disk with no success. There are 2 serious design flaws that blows my mind how they were not even caught in testing. 1: there is a metal dish that attaches to a bracket on the piece that attaches to the projector. This attachment is loose. You cannot tighten it because its welded on to another piece but not to the dish itself. If they simply would of not welded this piece and put a screw that attaches to the bracket, this would have solved this issue. The projector will always shift a little from where you set it. This will drive you crazy. 2: the extension poles are not snug so when you bolt the poles onto each other, there is a gap that also adds to malalignment issues. Again the projector will always shift. When you are mounting a projector, especially a short throw, mm make a huge difference. This mount will be inches off giving you horrible alignment. Even if you get it perfect it will shift over time. Worse, if you plug/unplug a cable to the projector, this will result in enough force to make it shift again. . Do yourself a favor and get a real mount, especially considering how much money you drop on the other projector components.

H. Delgado, Kentucky

I was drawn to this mount because the description states it can hold up to 65 lbs. I felt this was an adequate buffer to hold my 40 lbs epson ls10500 monster. After hanging the projector there is a visible tilt which cannot be corrected through tightening. I even tried using the supplied safety tether to try to restore balance to no avail. I am now looking for a way to level the projector.

G. Janice, Hawaii says

Update: 5/5/16 - i was contacted by jaden from spn performance. He instructed that in order to "lock" the projector i would need to twist each of the 2 screws 1/4 of the way at a time until tightened. Unfortunately, i hurt my back so getting up on a ladder and holding onto a 30lbs projector at this time is not a good idea. Jaden though was awesome and showed me what i can do to get this fixed and also refunded my money for the trouble. This company has great customer service and i wish nothing but the best for them. I've already ordered another mount and i am currently waiting on that to come in to try and do this all over again. . Original review: i installed this on my epson 5030ub. After setting this up and realizing that my projector's life is hanging on by 2 screws attached to a ball joint i am now fairly worried. After tightening the two screws to the ball joint, my projector is still not in any type of "locked" position. The projector has a mechanism that opens and closes the lens screen. This fairly small movement, causes the entire projector to move out of position. How is this possible that i cannot lock my projector in place. I will be returning this mount as i do not feel comfortable that it will win the battle against gravity holding my projector in the air above a glass table and not being able to lock the projector in place.

I've been using this mount for a little over a year now. It came with ample amount of mounting hardware to install for various configurations but my overall problem has been with the mount itself. The ball and pinion on this is severely undersized for holding the majority of home theater projectors. I have the screws on the ball and pinion tightened down as far as possible but there is still a few inches of play which making it line up correctly with my screen near impossible. . I think if you have a small projector this mount might be sufficient, but stay clear of this one if you have a larger projector.
